We completely rethought the layout of the first floor and basement of this duplex, while preserving as much of its character as possible. The spaces were designed to be flexible and functional for family life in the city.

The location of the staircase was determined by the existing position of the skylight. This was modified to bring more light down to the bottom. 

In the basement, we salvaged the stained-glass windows originally on the first floor to bring character and light into the private areas.
