The project consisted of designing a family home in the Eastern Townships, in close collaboration with Pier-Alexandre Molaison-Houde Architecte. The intention was to create an open living environment connected to the outdoor spaces.
At the heart of the ground floor, a central fireplace acts as an architectural mass and anchor point, unifying the living room and kitchen. The staircase with no risers amplifies the perception of height and lightens this structural element. The long kitchen, which integrates the dining room, is bathed in natural light that reveals the warmth of the wood.
The stone used for the exterior cladding is also present on the fireplace, reinforcing the connection between the interior and exterior.
The wood and natural light define the atmosphere, as if the forest has become part of the interior.
An open and breathing space, punctuated by an architectural bench offering a framed view of the exterior.
The unification of spaces through the choice of materials creates a warm continuity throughout the house.
In the bathroom, a circulation space is created on either side of the vanity.
